FAlbum and K2

I got an email the other day asking me how I got FAlbum working with K2 so I thought I would do a nice little writeup for it.

1. Download and install FAlbum.

2. Download and install Page Links-To plugin from txfx.net.

3. Go to the options page for FAlbum, under Use Friendly URL’s I chose ‘numeric’ because I don’t really name most of my photo’s accordingly, but you can choose by name if you want. Under URL Root I put ‘/photos/’(without the ’s) but again you can put whatever you want. Set the rest of the options accordingly. Oh and make sure you give FAlbum read authority to your flickr account!

5. If your .htaccess is not writeable you will need to copy and paste the rewrite rule from the FAlbum options page to your .htaccess file. I would recomend checking anyways because the FAlbum rewrite rule needs to be before the WP rewrite rules.

4. Follow the instructions on the FAlbum Wiki for integrating with k2 to setup your Photo’s page. When you create the page, make the slug whatever you want other than the URL Root you chose, and use the page links-to plugin and create a meta field that links to http://yourdoma.in/your_url_root/ … Also make sure and edit the header.php file like it says in the howto so you get the nifty little tab hilight going at the top.

That should be it … if you have any problems leave a comment and I will try and help you out with it.
