Colin Devroe of 9 Rules has ran several diet logs in the past on his website. He has decided to bring it back in a whole new way. He is running his new diet log as a community diet. Anyone can join, as long as they do so by tomorrow, by commenting on this post or emailing Colin(his email is on his website).
I doubt I have any long time readers, but in the past I have tried a couple of times to loose my excess baggage. So far I have not accomplished this goal. Hopefully having a community of people with the same goal as me will help.
I am going to be keeping track of my progress on this site with the tag ‘diet’, so if you want to track my progress all of my posts regarding it will be on the diet tags page. I wish good luck to anyone else undertaking this, and I hope I can finally follow through on it!

Tribe Wanted is a very cool social experiment taking place on a little island in Fiji. Apparently someone wanted to build a hotel there and pretty much take over the island. Someone offered up the money to not have the hotel be built there. They are trying to save the island and offering memberships to the tribe. There are only 5000 spots available.
There are 3 different types of memberships. Nomad, Hunter, and Warrior. A Nomad membership gives you a 1 year renewable(once) membership in the tribe and a 7 night stay on the island including travel from the local airport to the island. You still have to get to and back from Fiji yourself. The Hunter membership provides a 2 year membership and a 14 Night stay. The Warrior membership gives 3 years in the tribe and 21 nights on the island.
The prices to join the tribe are very affordable. $220 for the Noman membership, $440 for the Hunter membership, and $660 for the Warrior membership. The cheapest plane ticket I could find to Fiji was around $1000, so $1700 for a 3 week vacation in Fiji, plus a 3 year membership to the tribe, giving you a say in anything that happens within the tribe for the entirety of your membership.
This social experiment has it’s up sides and it’s down sides. On the plus side, the island is not being taken over by a hotel, YOU can join the tribe and have a say in what happens. On the downside, anyone can join and have a say in what happens. Some people may have the opinion that this is a bad thing for the local area, but I don’t think it can be worse than the hotel.
I just got my tax return and am so very tempted to purchase a membership, in the hopes that I will be able to afford a ticket before my membership is up. I think this would be one hell of an experience. Plus I have always wanted to go to Fiji. Unfortunately I am not at a point where this is a viable risk to take, there are so many other things I could spend that money on.

I received one of the most interesting comments yesterday/today. I can not tell if it is spam or a legitimate question. If it is spam, then they are getting much more creative and putting far more effort into thier spamming ways. This comment could not have been left by a robot, IMO, and so it will stay, forever immortalized on irgeek.net. Whats your opinion? View the comment …

Since I was a wee lad and discovered this wonder that is the interweb, I have pretty much gone by the same name, BoBB. I never really liked it and only picked it out of laziness(bob was taken). It also doesn’t fit well with what people call me now, Pablo. Last night I decided to transition all of my communications over to my domain(away from gmail) and change my address. I have always had BoBB-at-irgeek-net but have been slowly phasing it out in favor of gmail. Gmail now has the capability to send completely as an external address.
So last night I started the process of migrating everything over to pablo-at-irgeek-net. Gmail is all setup to receive from all my addresses and send out as pablo-at-irgeek-net. Alot of web accounts I have for certain services wont allow you to change the address, which kind of sucks, but I don’t think it will be to big of a deal. I’m quite anxious to get everything migrated over. I haven’t had one centralized email system since about 4 or 5 years ago when I was using mutt on linux. Which is IMO the best MUA out there. I stopped using it when I moved over to OSX because I couldn’t find a decent terminal to run it in. Luckily GMail came along and all was right in the ‘verse. GMail has only gotten better since it has come out, adding the ability to send as different email address’s, and the multiple signatures greasemonkey script definiteley makes it more viable as a multi-address client.
I guess until I find a better mail client than GMail(full features local GMail client anyone?) I will stick with it. Remember if you need to get ahold of me, my new address is pablo-at-irgeek-net.

Kristen is running a series of articles on how she runs her photoblog with WordPress. You can read part on of the article here. I’m looking forward to this series of articles. Kristen has drastically changed the appearance and functionality of WordPress to suit her needs, and that is why I love WP. I also love to see how different people hack different things to do what they require.
