I know this isn’t very computer related … but as most geeks are hairy fellows it is definately geek related! I decided to try out the new Gillette Fusion for my facial grooming needs. My first reaction was ‘No way!’ when I saw how much the replacement blades were. About $15.00 for a 4 pack! The razor itself was only $10.00 and it came with 2 blades and if I didn’t like it I could always go back to my Mach 3(about $10 for a 4 pack of blades). I realized that I don’t use blades that often and if it is as good as I think it’s giong to be, it’s worth that extra $5-$10 a month. What did I think of it? Well, lets just say I will have to squeeze an extra $10 a month into my grooming budget!
This razor is so smooth on the face. No razor burn, no cuts, no spotches of stubble left over. Easily the best shave I have ever given myself. Some of you may have noticed that I like to keep a little bit of extra face on my hair. This razor has an extra blade on the back for trimming, just like the electric razors with the little flip up trimer, except it is a blade. This thing works wonders! I wish I had a camera so I could show off how good it looks. If you were thinking about getting this razor, go do it. It is absolutely splendid! So yeah … totally not related to anything I normally post these days … but I just had to rave about it.

That razor on the back is kind of dumb… How is it any different than the 4 blade on the other side?!
That single blade appears to be clearly emulating a function that the main trimmers can’t do… ie. details and side burns…
This extra blade is just a bad gimmick to me…
I dunno man, I use the extra blade on the back to pick up little bits of stuff that the 5 blades on the front would take to much out of. Like if a line isn’t totally straight I don’t wanna go back in there with the 5 blades and possibly take to much off … i’ve done that before =/
The extra blade did pretty well with the details for me, and it was much better at shaving the upper lip than even the 3 blade system, let alone the 5 blade system. But to each thier own :-)
Well before I poopoo it more, I will try it out for myself… ;)
:-D
I would NOT give up my new fusion for anything. The five blades are a LOT easier on my face than the Mach 3 was and the new single blade lets me get to places that I was NOT able to get to with the 3. Under the Nose in particular was a gnarly place that was rarely touched before but that single blade on the back makes it a piece of cake to finish.
