I am going to be converting the site over from using categories to using tags. Everything will be narrowed down into about 3-4 categories and over the coming weeks/months(hopefully not months) I will get around to tagging all of the posts. I am going to be using Ultimate Tag Warrior for tagging purposes as I think it offers the best features of any of the tagging plugins I have found.
I see many merit’s in folksonomy over taxonomy. Mainly it will allow for easier navigation of the site and will cut down on clutter in the categories. I have so many of them! Also the UTW plugin will allow for browsing the archives by multiple tags which you can not do with categories. All in all, I think it will be a better system.
Several other blogs have switched over to this convention, namely Binary Bonsai. I draw alot of inspiration from Michael and would like to thank him for k2 and every idea I have ever had spawned from his work. Things will be hectic around here in the coming days. Just bear with me.
On another related note. I have decided not to build my own theme up from scratch but instead use k2 and it’s builtin scheming capabilities. It will severely cut down on the work I have to do(thanks again michael)! Still looking for a graphic artist though.
I have just done the same thing!
;)
BinaryBonsai.com is inspirational.
Awesome! How did it go for you? Am I in for as big a world of hurt as I think I am? :-P
Hey Pablo,
I did it and it wasn’t an issue. Take a look at the Archive at: http://www.maltese.net
My main problem thus far has been my utter lack of motivation to go through and tag any post that’s not on the front page. Hopefully I will get around to it eventually. Maybe set small goals like 3 months of posts per week or something.
Whatever it takes! :)
I just made the switch, too .. http://elifoner.com/archives and almost done tagging posts.
Mat, how many posts do you have total?!
Wow, my lazy ass made the switch almost a month ago and have about 1/8 of my posts tagged LOL </lazy>
Mat, how many posts do you have!?
Almost (gulp) 1,600.
