Bat Problems

We live in an old house in Braintree, MA just outside Boston. Due to the fact the house is old, its not perfect. Somehow a bat has found or is finding its way into our house. This morning was the third time I have encountered ‘the bat’ and by far the worst.

It’s 5:00am and for some reason my eyes are starting to open a full 30 minutes ahead of schedule. I look over at the clock, realize its way to early and start to go back to sleep. Right around this time I realize that my back itches and figure it would not require to much effort to scratch it so I reach back to scratch my back and encounter a very very foreign object on my back and the way it felt reminded me of those beetle things from The Mummy, as well as its sequels, and the noises it made, obviously being startled by me disturbing it, also reminded me of them. A very scary sounding clicking, of course it could have just been his wings flapping against my back trying to get away, or I could have just been very tired and heard it a little differently than it actually sounded.

Well, needless to say, this scared the living shit out of me and I shouted at the top of my lungs a very obscene phrase I wont repeat on the blog and woke up everyone in the house. This is all a testament to my natural reflexes because before I even knew what it was that was on my back I had put on pants and was on my way out the room still shouting just in case anyone in the house was still sleeping.

So yes I am very very pissed off at my current living situation right now. In other semi-related news, one of my friends from back in Phoenix informed of a company that was currently hiring for managed hosting sysadmins paying a very handsome salary and for schooling. It really seems a bit to good to be true, I would have to move back to Phoenix though. This carries with it some good things and some bad things, all the things I am missing I will have back, but I will also have all the things I left in Phoenix that I didn’t want. Not really sure how thats going to turn out but I will be sure to let you all know if and when anything becomes final.

So anyone have any tricks for getting rid of bats? :-P
