About a year ago I got a vertical labret piercing. This was never a problem at my old job and I knew it might be if I ever had to swich jobs. Well I have been working at a new job here in Boston for about 4 weeks now.I started out assuming I had to take it out every day as it’s a business office and there are lots of higher ups that walk around.
After the first week I lost the ball to the piercing I had. Having bought that one in Phoenix, I knew the chances of finding a ball with matching threads were slim to none so I just decided to go buy a new one. Come to find out jewlery is really expensive here. I spent $30 on a new 14 gauge curved barbell. Nothing special. Would have cost me $10-$15 in Phoenix. About 4 days after I got that one I lost the ball to my new one! A hazard of taking it off and putting it back on every day. So after about a week of dealing with not having a ball on my piercing and being careful, it finally fell out. Unfortunately it fell out while I was brushing my teeth and went down the drain! :’(
So I found another place that was closer to where I lived and bought a new 14g curved barbell. It was around $28. They didn’t have the size i normally get, 5/16, so I had to squeeze a 1/4 in there and it is a much better size but it is a pain to get on and off having no extra room there to mess about with.
I have been walking around our office for about 2 weeks now as my new job requires it and i’ve seen a couple people with facial piercings. No vertical labrets, but there is someone with an eyebrow, i saw a nose, and quite a few tongue piercings. So I decided this morning I would not take it out and see if they ask me to. So far so good, its 12:25pm and i’ve been here for 4 and a half hours and no one has said anything about it yet. Lets hope it stays that way and I don’t have to spend any more money on jewlery!
