So I started my new job today with John Hancock, and I’ve got to say the commute to downtown Boston and back during rush hour is absolutely draining! I got there and wanted to go back to sleep! I must leave my house at 6:45 to get to my job by 8:30, and when I get out at 5:00 I get home around 6:30 on a good day. Thats a 3 hour and 15 minute commute for an 8 hour job!
That math just does not add up. How can people here honestly think that is worth it? My day was damn near over by the time I got home. I had time to make and eat dinner and check my email and read my RSS feeds, and now its just about time for me to go to bed so I can get up and do it all again tomorrow. In the future, I plan on not taking any job with a commute greater than 45 minutes each way. And now I am done ranting and must go sleep.
You know I often consider moving out of the city but it is stories like these that keep me here. It may be more expensive but being able to get out of bed at 745 and be home by 530 make it so much more worth it. Granted I haven’t got any grass, but I sure got a hell of a commute. Hope it gets tolerable!
Yea, this actually has me considering moving into the city and paying rent =/ But it is after all only a temp job, although any other job I get will most likely put me in the city as well. We will see what happens.
