Poker …

So I have found myself watching alot of poker on TV lately. I must say i’m a fan and a few days ago I started playing poker online with my mountains of free time and I am fairly decent at it for just jumping in and am planning on researching it a bit further. If anyone knows of any good resources for learning to play poker feel free to leave a comment. I have also been doing some research online and have found some good reviews of books.

I figure the best way to get some experience is to find a local game to start playing in or to play in local tournaments. Obviously continuous practice is one of the best ways to go as there is no match for experience. Online play I have noticed is decent, but not the best way to get good at poker is it takes many of the elements of the game away. Plus it is easy to cheat at online poker by writing a bot to play the game for you calculating everything and making the best play.

The payout possibilities in this game are amazing. I went online today and grabbed $200 of fake money and ’sat’ at a virtual poker table. An hour later I had $2500. If I was playing real money poker it would most likely have been a $20 buy in but still that would have yielded $250! You probably won’t see me on the World Poker Tour anytime soon … but definately expect to hear more about poker from me.
