I missed yesterdays OSX app of the day … Todays is shaping up to be kind of a less than stellar one as well. Every windows user who uses gmail has the gmail notifier so they know when they have new mail. There are many of these applications out there for the Mac, I settled on this one. GmailStatus can, as you would imagine, check to see if you have new mail on gmail. It will also notify you via growl when you have new mail.
Among checking if you have new mail it also runs in the OSX menu bar at the top similar to the windows system tray. Upon clicking on this icon there is a submenu that will list all of your gmail labels and how many unread messages are in each label. The only thing it is missing is the ability to play a user defined sound so I can rock out with the “Mail Motha Fucka” from the movie Eurotrip. It can also open up your gmail account in your default browser and also open up the compose message view in your default browser. Opening up gmail is configurable to a hotkey as well.
Well, maybe that wasn’t such a bad application, upod review it does alot more than it seems when you are actually using it heh. Well, enjoy this one because this weekend is probably going to suck for blog posts! So much to do!
