Due to the fact that I am the new owner of a fabulous iBook, I have decided to devote a category to all my new findings on the Mac platform. I’m sure any avid Mac user won’t find very much of this useful but any other newbies or people who are interested in getting into the platform should find a wealth of useful information.

I will start out this category with my favorite OSX application I have found yet, HandBrake. It is a ‘push-button’ application for ripping and encoding DVD’s. You put the DVD in, select your options and push a button and it will rip and encode the movie for you. I am getting the same kind of performance I have been getting out of DVD::RIP which I have been using on the UNIX platform for quite some time now. A really cool feature of this application that is still in the works but actually going to be release shortly is an encode queue. Which basically means I can rip 2-3 DVD’s and add those to the queue and set it to encode them before I go to bed!

I will try to have a new application up each day for the next 7 days. Being a newb and focuing these more towords people who are new to Mac’s I will try and keep the applications to a general nature such as this one, everyone wants to backup thier DVD’s :-D
