Le Sigh …

So I ordered my laptop today from apple, the total came to $1478.67 … Here is what I got …

  • Memory 065-5235 256MB DDR266
  • Hard Drive 065-5241 80GB ATA Drive
  • Optical Drive 065-5243 COMBO DRIVE
  • Airport 065-5246 Airport Extreme Card
  • BlueTooth 065-5011 Internal BlueTooth Module
  • iWork Software Preinstalled 065-4683Not Applicable
  • Keyboard/Mac OS Language 065-5249 Keyboard/Mac OS

All that plus the apple care protection plan and a $50 promotional discount for who knows what heh. I’m also buying 1 Gig of PC2100 DDR266 Notebook Memory made by KingMax (?) for $134.99 or 512MB of PC2100 DDR266 Notebook Memory made by Corsair for $64.99. The only thing keeping me from getting the 1Gig is that i’ve never heard of that company before, I know Corsair is good ram. But the KingMax does come with a lifetime warranty, so I think I will just go for that and have a beefy maxed out iBook :-D Either way I have to wait until my next paycheck to buy the ram :(

Perfect Ending

As you may have noticed from my earlier posts this week has really really sucked ass. I was hoping it was all over as today was supposed to be a very very good day. The Hitchikers guide to the galaxy movie came out, Mac OSX 10.4 came out, I was going to go buy my first laptop, and I was expecting a package from Jinx … So anyways normally packages get here around noon or so so I got up early so I could get the package, go see the movie, and then go get in line for the apple store. If only things had gone as I planned …

I woke up around 11am and just started doing my thing and waiting, the package didn’t come until 3pm which already threw everything off. I had to go run some errands before I could leave too so I did those and ended up heading out around 5pm. I went to Fry’s Electronics and picked up a spindle of CD-R’s and some new headphones. Then I drove to the Apple Store and Chandler Fashion Center. It took me about 20 minutes to find the Apple Store as I’ve never been to this one before. The only reason I found it was the 200+ people sitting in line waiting to get in. I was not about to wait in that line as the people at that mall are not my favorite type of people. So I head off to the other Apple Store at the Biltmore.

Takes me about 45 minutes to get to the Biltmore in rush hour traffic. When I get to this one I notice there is a line here as well, but not nearly as long … maybe 50 people. So I get in line and wait for about 45 minutes to get in. When I finally get in I go straight up to a salesman and told him what I wanted. A 12″ iBook with an 80gig hard drive and the bluetooth module. He goes in the back for about 5-10 minutes as I look around and he comes and tells me that they dont have any … now in my mind i’m thinking “Your the fucking apple store you dont have any iBooks?!” but I could never say anything like that so I give up and go down to the cafe and play solitaire for about 2 hours until I can go see the guide. I *could* have gone right afterwards, but I refuse to go to the movie theatre any earlier before curfew than I have to as the little 16 year old kids in Phoenix are so god damn annoying. The last showing they had started at 10pm so I still had to deal with all the little kids … le sigh. Oh well I figure it will be an awesome movie anyways.

But keep with my string of god awful luck or whatever you want to call it, the movie was absolutely horrinle. I’m no movie critic or anything but when you mak a movie thats based on a book that has a HUGE following you have to be as true to the book as possible. At least make it resemble the book somewhat instead of just having a bunch of characters with the same names, fairly similar qualities, and bits and pieces of the story from the book with all kinds of extra random crap thrown in. Anyways I must sleep now but I will probably rant on this tommorow with all the spoilers etc

Hope everyone had a better week than me.
