Blog Junk

You may have noticed a bunch of crap on this page to promote my blog with those promotion sites. I’m not to sure how well they work, I know I get lots of traffic but I don’t think it comes from them. So most of them will be removed over the next week or so. I will also be working on my new design some more and hopefully it will be up in the next week or so.

Tiredness Again!

I would tell you all about my tiredness, or you can read all about it last week. Just replace the 2 movies with Elf and Anchorman, substitute bowling alley parking lot for house, and you have my wednesday. Complete with maximum tiredness, half awake night at work, and 12 hours of sleep the next day. It was oh so worth it yet again though. Couldn’t think of anything else I would rather have done. I just hope she feels the same way. I am supposed to see her again this weekend. Wish me luck!

Weekend

This weekend was very interesting and probably the most fun I have had in as long as I can remember. It started out really crappy with nothing to do. I decided to just go down to the coffee house for a while. When I got there I was the only one there but I was talking with Alex, the guy who works there, and he said they were throwing a show that night and there would be a bunch of people shortly. How right he was, after about 30 minutes the place was packed.

There were these 2 girls who came in and I started talking with them. These girls were sooo smart and interesting and I loved talking to them. Before I knew it, it was like 4am and they had to go. Girl #1 had to take girl #2 to her car so she could get home because she had something to do in the morning. But she said she would come back so I decided not to go home and sleep. I walked around the coffee house and listened to the DJ’s for about 20 minutes and she returned. We were joined shortly after by a few regulars I’ve met before and they were all telling crazy stories which was alot of fun but I felt a tad left out on that as I have no crazy stories. Once they left, at about 6am, we decided to go watch Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle because she has yet to seen it and really wanted to. By the way that is the funniest stoner movie I have ever seen.

After the movie is over we sit around and smoke and talk until about 10:30 when we both realize that its been 12 hours and neither of us had eaten. So off we go to Denny’s. I got an Italian Chicken Melt(soooooo good) and she got belgium waffles. Both of us got bad food. I got an usnettled stomach and it just sucked. I was the lucky one though as she got quite sick and ended up throwing up her waffle. After that little adventure we decided to go back to the coffee house where her car was and hang out there for a little while before she had to go home. When we arrived there the owner of the store offered to rent out the backroom to me as a studio for $300 a month as a joke. Apparently I had been there for 15 out of 20 hours that day and didn’t yet realize it. So me and girl sat on the couch at the coffee house and drank coffee and talked some more about the most randomly interesting shit in the world. At about 6pm she had to go and so we said our goodbyes and such and I wnt home. I don’t think I will ever see her again as she lives in new york, but that was by far one of the best times i’ve had in my life.

I wish I could explain how incredible this weekend was, i’m sure reading that makes it sound very very lame but it was by far the most fun I have had in a long time. I learned so much that night about random shit I will probably never need to know, and even more about shit I will need to know. I can only hope I meet someone half as interesting as her again in my lifetime.

Troy

I finished watching the movie Troy today, and I must say it was awesome. The thing that I like about it is that it is a different story line than other stories of the trojan war. For instance another of my favorite movies is Helen of Troy which has alot of similarities but still makes it seem like you are watching a different movie. If you haven’t seen it I highly recomend it. The main difference I noticed was how Achiles died.

In Helen of Troy he is killed in a battle between Paris and Achiles. Paris throws a spear at him and it hits him in his heal and he dies from that as the legends go. However in Troy, they touch on the fact that this legend was most likely a myth and even set the basis for how the myth may have begun.

In Troy when Achiles dies he is shot first by an arrow in his heel seemingly on accident. They do not touch on the legend of him being impervious in every other area. However they do touch on a rumor that he is not killable to which he responds “If that were true then I wouldn’ bother with a shield.” After beeing shot in the heel he stands up and Paris shoots him again in the chest. Achiles rips out the arrow and continues to advance on Paris. Paris shoots him again, and again the arrow is ripped out. He is shot about 4 or 5 times in the chest with arrows each one being ripped out before he finally falls dead with the arrow still through his ankle. He is discovered like this with seemingly no wounds other than the one in his ankle giving rise to the legend that he was only vulnerable in that one spot. I loved that twist of reality on the story.

I just love ancient greek and roman mythology. My love for the study of religions I have been developing recently comes from this I think. I am not a religous person by any means and dont believe in any religion per se. Not to say that they are all wrong because honestly, I dont know. But there are so many facts and truths out there that debunk just about every religion it makes it hard to believe in one. I believe religion came about for the one purpose, control, which has evolved over time but essentialy achieves the same goal. Alot of people need religion in thier lives to explain themselves or to have something to hold on to and believe in, and I don’t blame them. As someone who does not have a religion it does all seem kind of pointless to think that you live out your 70-100 years and then there is just nothing. Having something to look forward to keeps you going. That is what I believe religion has evolved into today. In its most basic form however, religion is merely a way to control the mass population through means of fear. I don’t necisarily think this is a bad thing as people do need to kept in line somehow. However what I do think is bad is the people who exploit it to gain more power. For example(since were already on the subject and I don’t want to piss off any catholics), the Greek Gods. In Anceint Greece kings would say that they were granted power by the gods and they were given certain rights. Thier subjects bought into that because they were scared of what may happen if they did not. This has continued throughout time and is still the same today as it was then, only it has evolved with the times. Oh well, sorry to any catholics but it looks like I am going to touch on it. The catholic church for instance, uses its power to get what it wants, and it gains its power from persuading people that they will go to hell if they dont buy into what they are selling.

Well, I think I will stop ranting now before I piss alot of people off heh. Who knows, if this gets received well and generates some intelligent conversation instead of tons of flames, I may post more of my personal views on certain subjects.
